The shoes have been described as "the classic American brushed-suede shoes with the lightweight crepe sole". A division of Wolverine Worldwide, Hush Puppies is headquartered in Rockford, Michigan. Wolverine markets or licenses the Hush Puppies name for footwear in over 120 countries throughout the world. In addition, the Hush Puppies name is licensed for non-footwear fashion categories, including clothing, eyewear and plush toys.

Unlike other shoes design that have a unique characteristic such as Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, etc, the shoes design for hush puppies doesn't seem to change towards modernization. The shoes classic design remain untarnished. The shoes usually have a classic colour especially brown. Hush Puppies had produced many types of shoes such as boots, wedges, pump shoes, and many types more. Hush Puppies also had a collaboration with many famous designer for its shoes.
