As a student in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) I'd learnt so many things that I never expected before. Sometimes I'm enjoying it but sometimes I'm struggling. Sometimes I doubted whether is it the right thing for me to study here. But as the time gone by, little by little my feared disappeared as I now become more and more enjoying it. I think I doubted my decision to come to NAFA just because I haven't accustomed to a new place and the new environment here but there's also other thing that make me doubt my decision is that many people said to me why to study in art school. They said that we can't earn money from art. My friends parents also didn't allow their child to study art. WHY??? Yeah I know different people have different perspective of doing things but the art people also can have a living right? Although it's hard but as long as we have effort in doing it, we can achieve it. As you can see many art people whether is it a performing art people or a visual art people have became well known in the world.

Ludwig van Beethoven

Beethoven was a German composer and pianist. He was born in Bonn and was a student of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In about 1800 his hearing began to deteriorate, and by the last decade of his life he was almost totally deaf. He gave up conducting and performing in public but continued to compose, many of his most admired works come from this period. So as you can see, even though he is deaf he can still  composed and because of his effort he became one of a very well known musician in the history.

Angela Isadora Duncan

                                

 

She was an American dancer. Breaking with convention, she traced the art of dance back to its roots as a sacred art. She developed within this idea, free and natural movements inspired by the classical Greek arts, folk dances, social dances, nature and natural forces as well as an approach to the new American athleticism which included skipping, running, jumping, leaping and tossing. But her dance was being criticized by the social community because at that time all dancer dance ballet so her improvised dance wasn't been received well. Without giving up, she tried to apply into a dance company but she was rejected again and again. But after some time she found the company that accept her dance and after that she travelled around and become more well known.

 

Both of the short inspirational story that make me sure about my decision to further my study about art. Once I knew this story, I knew what is my passion and I'm sure with a lot of effort I can achieve my dream. So guys, for anyone who one to learn art or anything else that aren't accepted by the public, don't hesitate as long as it's the right positive thing to do because only you can achieve your own dream.

Missing U

I've been in Singapore for just around 2 months but the urge to go back to my hometown (Medan,Indonesia) seems bigger and bigger. I always wait for the school vacation so I can go back there. I missed my parents even though they just came last Friday. I also missed my friends, my other relatives and my maid (P.S I missed her because of her cooking though haha). In my hometown there are so many recreation places that we can enjoy our relaxing time with family. Some of the places have a really beautiful scenery and when you'll want to go there again

The pictures above are the Lake Toba and Simalem
Lake Toba and Simalem share the same lake but the feeling when you go there is definitely different. Almost all tourist prefer to go to Simalem because it's located in the highland and surrounded by mountains so when you go there you can feel the cool windy breeze. As the opposite of Simalem, the Lake Toba has a really warm weather and almost nothing to see there except the lake. You can go to Samosir Island via Lake Toba but I heard that it isn't very safe to go there because you must go there by sampan and it shaking a lot so I think it won't be the recommended place for the tourist.

There are other places in Medan that is also the tourist most favourite place to go and its name is......... BRASTAGI!!!! It's the place that is like a traditional village and it's located in highland too. Most of the people who live there are the "Batak" tribe. They have traditional houses that are very unique.

As you can see from the pictures above, the houses have a very unique rooftop and usually the house of the "Batak" tribe have a big spacious garden so when you go there you can breathe the unpolluted air there.

Anna Sui

Hi guys, on this post I'll talk about one of my favourite designer and her products. So to start it, I'll show a photo of her

 

Do anyone know her? Yup, she is one of the "Top 5 Fashion Icons of the Decade" ANNA SUI. Some of you guys should have known her right? She'd produced so many fashion products such as clothes, shoes, cosmetics, perfumes and many other things. She is one of my favourite designer cause all of her designs have a unique feel in them. The things that I like about Anna Sui is that most of her products have a combination of the cute, vintage, and the rock-star feel but even though the products have the combinations that I feel that can't fit each other, the truth is the opposite of my opinion. The products seem like to have persuasive present that ask us to buy and have them. Anna Sui's product quite pricey but I think they aren't unaffordable at all so we can still have them ^.^

 

I'd attached some photos of the products produced by Anna Sui this year. Some of them are limited edition so if you want to buy it, you must grab it fast :)

       

 

 

As you can see in the pictures, usually Anna Sui's products have a theme in their colour. They usually have black and purple as their main colour. These pictures show the cosmetics and the perfumes that created by Anna Sui, it's really cute, isn't it? Don't you feel like having one of them as your collection? I want it though...

So as I said earlier, Anna Sui also designing clothes so as you can see the pictures below, all of this are the clothes that Anna Sui designed for the Fall 2013



Like them? Of course. I like the black and the purple one haha. Wish I could have it but there's no way that I can't afford it. But it's okay, even though I can't have the clothes, I can still afford to buy the cosmetics and the perfumes ^.^





Milk Talk

 

Milk talk series is one of my favourite body wash brand for me. It is the products by the Etude House company. The milk talk series have many types of different fragrance. There are strawberry, banana, apple, milk, chocolate fragrance. As for me, I like the banana body wash even though when the first time I tried it I feel that the fragrance kinda strange haha ;) but after using it for a few times I started to like it.

The other reason I like the body wash is because they also have the shower puffs that can replace the bottle's covers. The shower puffs are really cute but I don't buy them because I don't really need them and their price are a little bit expensive but sometimes I do longed to have them.

My Baby Bride Series

 

 

I like to read books but many of them are fiction books. The books that I'm reading now are the "My Baby Bride" series. They're published in 2013 so they're quite new.  They're written by Sujini Koe. She is an Indonesian author, she's from Padang province and the book that made her become famous are the "My Baby Bride" series that she wrote. The books are very famous in Indonesia, I and my classmate in Indonesia always talk about the books. The books that Sujini Koe wrote have a very interesting story lines. The books were talking about Drake Albern Erling Mc Carney (Prince from Quinland) and Odelia ( the missing Prince's fiancée ). Odelia and Drake had been engaged for years since they're young. Both of them are from a country name Quinland. Years ago, Eun Hee parents stole the royal heirloom and ran away from Quinland, then they go to Korea without anybody noticing except their own family. They then changed Odelia name into Lee Eun Hee. Eun Hee were adopted by Lee's family. Then, 17 years later, Drake come to Korea to find Odelia because Drake already has a lover and decided to get divorce with Odelia, and the story goes on...

 

I like the book cause the author could tell a story without getting the reader bored with the story and the proportion of the conflict, comedy and romance are really compatible with each other so when we read it, we can feel the emotion there. The books are really good to read but unfortunately, they're in Indonesian and they just being published in Indonesia only so I can't buy them in Singapore. Hikz...:(
